CONFESSIONS OF A HOMESCHOOLING STAY AT HOME MOM
ONE OF THOSE DAYS
I must admit…..today is one of those days.
Nothing has gone wrong…in fact I had fun at an online woman's conference put on by A Woman Inspired http://www.awomaninspiredconference.org/ I enjoyed what I could hear amidst the constant buzzing of the day. The ladies were awesome.
Everyone has behaved overall…the twins are playing nicely….
I have everything in the world to be thankful for: Health, a roof over my head, shoes & clothes that kinda fit OR will very soon after I stop going to Dunkin Doughnuts so much and loose the twin pregnancy belly!
The kids homeschooling even seem semi-focused, possibly, maybe, perhaps…..with cyber-schooling it is a bit more tricky to know what they are learning so I need to check their online stats….later
I BELIEVE MANY MOMS LIVE IN A QUANDARY TOO…
You give and give to your family and then at some point on some days…you just DON’T FEEL LIKE IT
It’s not that you won’t do what you should and you stop being responsible BUT WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO IS:
TAKE A LONG BATH,
THEN A NAP (ON THE SAME DAY)
RELAX
BRUSH AND FLOSS YOUR TEETH….ALONE
HAVE MORE THAN 10-15MIN FOR NOT SO QUIET “QUIET TIME” WITH GOD
SIT IN SILENCE FOR 6-8 HOURS
POLISH NAILS AND OTHER PRIMPING
CHAT WITH A FRIEND
DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR A LOOOOONG TIME AND NOT FEEL GUILTY
and if things are really going your way…you and your hubby or best friend can get away on a FREE VACATION OR SHOPPING SPREE
SAHM - WHAT TO DO?
The kicker is that it is best to be grateful for what you have and take your eyes off yourself. That is what I tell others right?…
I may just need some sleep=)
I calculated that it has been about……………..1 1/2 years since I had a FULL NITE of sleep=)
The twins were doing well sleeping thru the night until teething and ear infections hit. But I can’t blame the twins because when they were sleeping all nite I was “Moonlighting on the Internet” or just relaxing to have some “Mommy Time”. When I don’t get mommy time OR quiet time….let’s just stay them older kids know to give me lots of space!
I asked God to help me stay motivated….and to give me direction.
I thinks sometimes Stay At Home Moms feel “hidden away” in a world of diapers, story books, discipline and mush.
But I KNOW Stay At Home Moms are generating the best crop and best “product” (left over from my sales days) there could be:
CHILDREN WHO LOVE THE LORD AND ARE PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY. I know I will really feel lousy if they don’t.
Anyway, there are days I really enjoy my kids and have fun with them. It’s not that I didn’t today actually. I guess sometimes in life we wonder….”What SHOULD I be doing?” “What do I focus on TODAY?” We are pulled in so many ways that it is sometimes hard to decide WHERE TO START. So instead of deciding…I write =)
MOTIVATION TO HOMESCHOOL?
As a homeschooler…IT SEEMS that lack of motivation can be deadly. The kids could really just wander and accomplish nothing….BUT that I KNOW is just one school of thought. Many homeschoolers realize that kids naturally WANT to learn regardless of what mom is doing or feeling each day. In fact my oldest son actually butts heads with me when I am too hands on with him. I mostly guide him without him knowing…
Since I need a boost for my new upcoming crop of students….the 4yo plus the twins I plan to go to the homeschool convention this year.
CHAPS homeschool convention helped me the last time I felt like quitting homeschooling one of my kids. It had been 9yrs of being home and homeschooling at that point and I had had enough!!!
Now at 12 years of homeschooling I DON’T want to stop… I just want to find a balance between family needs and mommy=)
I calculate that I will be in my sixties when I get done homeschooling with this second crop so I need to consider multi-taking if I am ever going to do anything else….BUT THEN my focus is divided. There is the rub.
ANY TIPS?
If you have wisdom and insight please feel free to share. I am venting and expecting God to guide me and give me the strength I need to continue. He will….He always does…
