Parenting Twins @ 6 mos = Still a Blizzard of Activity
It has been a 6month roller coaster to say the least!
It amazes me how God gives us strength to keep up....
The funniest thing is that when I FIRST visited the twins meeting as I was about 5mos pregnant Tracy, a dear lady, was kind enough to tell me..."They won' t tell you this but it is REALLY HARD! Having twins is REALLY HARD. " Now I must admit I was surprised at her statement but I didn't feel the full impact of it for quite some time. I had been thru schooling that was tough, family illnesses, moving around everytime corporate America replanted us....many things. No tragedy mind you but some "fun" milestones that help build character. Well.............................
PARENTING TWINS - A CHALLENGE & BLESSING
I had no idea. Perhaps the fact that there are 4 others makes it especially challenging at times. Not sure. Other times it goes so smoothly that I couldn't imagine life any other way.
I read a post from a lady on http://multiples.about.com/ twin forum. She seemed like she was swimming in child care. She was struggling to keep her own identity. I totally identified with her since there is not much "me" time left after you carve out the day for God, hubby, kids, church and basic homecare and hygine=)
ASK GOD FOR HELP TO PARENT
I know many moms who crack jokes about "I JUST WANT TO SHOWER...THIS WEEK" or "I JUST WANT TO BRUSH MY TEETH...I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I DID..." . Sometimes I realize I just have to TAKE time. Sometimes at the cost of sleep or cleaning till the house is spotless. Sometimes I get so desperate I remember that I forgot to just pray and ASK GOD FOR HELP. Sad to say but you go through the motions of diapering, feeding nursing, managing and schooling the older kids, and so and you realize....OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN ASK GOD TO GIVE ME A BREAK. Then I send up an SOS prayer and somehow "Little Johnny" suddenly is willing to play contentedly with his sister. Amazing.
STOP PULLING YOUR SISTERS HAIR!!
The biggest issues right now for the twins seem to be keeping them from hurting each other by accident. I almost clipped off my dd's little scant of strings in her little pumpkin patch so my son would stop pulling it! He keeps grapping at it when they lay together romping in our morning family bed....
STOP KICKING YOUR SISTER'S HEAD!!!
Then its the KICKING.....since they are still in the same crib we have to face them different directions. HOW TWIN MOMS KEEP THEIR TWINS FROM KICKING EACH OTHER IN THE HEAD...I DON'T KNOW. i NOW HAVE A crib divider to use but it inhibits our Boppies. To us, BOPPIES are the greatest twin parenting tool known to all mankind.....God Bless whoever created them!!!
I know this endeavor is a waste of my time BUT I attempt to keep them from taking toys from each other...
Especially "Belly" as we now call her due to her BIG BELLY=) (gotta love plump babes) She looses her toys when she stops playing with them so she can GRIN and SMILE at someone. She is sooooooooo social it is incredible. I am not sure is she will stay that way but my son sure loves it. He tries to swipe her toys if they look interesting. Funny thing is that she sometimes reaches for his toys too and falls forward....not quite capable of getting back up. I attempt to mediate when I notice but I think it is part of the game!
These are the highlights and fun points. We laugh so much at their antics.....it is a riot.....
I wouldn't trade this experience for the world.....
Its pic time for my travelling friends but I have to get dinner on the table first....maybe I will be back tonite!

Yes! Picture time!!! Is there a birthday coming up or recently passed that I should know about? Please let me know! I want to call you soon when its not 80 cents a minute =)
