Foolproofing Teens...
TEENS NEED STEERING
I have teens and I am sure many of you do too...a wise man, I think Gary Ezzo in "Growing Kids God's Way" said to parent with the Word (Bible) for greater effectiveness. I try, perhaps too much, to tell the kids WHY they should do what I'm asking and how God loves them and sent us their parents to protect them....this method backs up on me many times though when I DON'T feel like explaining and I want them to just DO AS I SAY!!! Oh well...nothing is totally foolproof.
Just in case you have need for parenting tips here is their link...I use much of what the Ezzos teach but not all...no 1 method is perfect but there teachings are really good=)

One day, when I was scanning thru the Bible I found the PERFECT scripture of the day...Proverbs is so perfect for parents anyway because it has lots of bite-sized verses that kids can "digest" with very little explanation....
REFRIGERATOR LESSONS
Many people have their scripture memory methods for their families but this verse was really highlighted to me so I POSTED IT ON THE FRIDGE....alot of learning happens thru being posted on the fridge...
My kids did NOT jump up and down when they read this verse=)
but they didn't grimace AND GROAN so I was thankful they at least acknowledged the lesson....
I'd like to say I then had a long discussion with them to explain all the nuances of the verse....but it has been discussed before. I also knew better to ambitiously attempt to make them write the verse as we've done for things in the past to hang up THEIR writing....I was way TOO TIRED for any of those noble efforts, I admit =)
So I basically slapped it up for all to see, LIKE IT OR NOR, whenever they went into the fridge.
So.....here it is from my FRIDGE:
"ONLY A FOOL DESPISES A PARENT'S DISCIPLINE, whoever learns from correction is WISE."
Proverbs 15:5
I just found a cool bible look-up site with a cute turn the page option so it reads like a book ( I still like books best)
